WordPress development, Mansfield
Fifteen years of WordPress, from small brochure sites to builds with custom post types, complex form logic and third-party API hand-offs. Written properly, so the next developer can read it.

WordPress development for when a plugin isn't enough
Plenty of WordPress sites run happily on a good theme and a few plugins. A plugin is a small add-on that gives WordPress an extra feature. But sooner or later some businesses hit a wall. A booking process that doesn’t match how you work, a stock system that has to talk to your back office, a site slowed down by a dozen add-ons all fighting each other. That is where development comes in: writing code for the exact job instead of bending a plugin to fit.
I’m a WordPress developer in Mansfield with more than 15 years of experience, and I write the code myself, with nothing outsourced and no account managers between us, so the person you describe the problem to is the person who fixes it. I work with businesses across Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and the wider UK, entirely remotely by phone, WhatsApp, email and video call. WordPress development starts from £1,200, with a fixed quote agreed up front.

Why custom development

Custom themes and admin screens that suit you
A ready-made theme is quick and cheap, and often the right choice. The trade-off is features and styling you’ll never use, and content that has to fit someone else’s layout. A custom theme is written for your site alone, with clean code and no unused extras, so pages load faster and there is less to keep updated. Already have a design from an agency? I can turn it into a working theme exactly as drawn. For a full design and build, see web design.
WordPress can also hold almost any kind of content. I can set it up so adding a property, team member or case study is as simple as filling in a form:
- Custom post types: your own content types, such as vehicles or events.
- Custom fields: boxes for prices, dates or downloads.
- Simple admin screens: only the options your team needs, so staff can update the site confidently.
Connecting WordPress to your other systems
Many businesses already use a CRM, a booking system, a payment provider or accounting software. An integration lets those systems share information with your website, so nobody has to type the same details twice.
Most modern software offers an API, which is a defined way for one system to talk to another. Typical jobs include sending enquiry form details to a CRM, showing live availability from a booking tool, or passing orders to a back-office system. I can also work with Stripe and PayPal for payments.
Every system is different, and some are easier to connect than others, so I’ll want to read its documentation before promising anything. If it can’t be done reliably, I will say so plainly rather than sell you something fragile, and suggest a simpler route where one exists. For shops that need this kind of link, see WooCommerce.
Taking over and fixing an existing site
You don’t need to start again to get development work done. Often the better route is to improve what you have, especially if the site was built by someone who is no longer around.
I always begin with an audit. I look through the theme, the plugins, the code and the site’s performance, then report back in plain English with what’s working, what’s risky and what should change first. Only then do we agree a fixed price for the work, so you know the size of the job before committing.
After that, I can repair faults, remove plugins you no longer need, move the site to newer software, and document how everything works so the next person isn’t left guessing. To keep it healthy afterwards, website maintenance from £45 a month covers regular updates and backups. If you have a site you’ve inherited or a problem that needs solving, get in touch.
